Man returns home after eight years |
Ranchi, Sep 7 (IANS) A person, declared dead eight years ago, returned to his home in Jharkhand's Ranchi district last week, much to the surprise of his family members.
Mohammad Shakil arrived in his Chandawe village situated in the Pithoria block of the district, around 45 km from here.
The two persons, who had accompanied Shakil to Orissa eight years ago, were falsely charged with abducting him and selling his kidney.
In 1999, Shakil, along with fellow villagers Jamid and Yakub, went to Orissa in search of a job. After two days, Jamid and Yakub returned home, but Shakil did not. Both the villagers pleaded that Shakil had got separated from them.
But the family members of Shakil lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Yakub and Jamid and accused them of abducting and selling his kidney.
Police investigation found the charges to be correct and the court awarded them a jail term of four years in 2002. Yakub died in jail and Jamid turned mad after coming out of the jail.
Recalling the incident, Shakil said, 'Three of us were sitting in a town in Orissa when Yakub and Jamid went to get food. In the meantime, two people appeared before me and asked me to go with them. They hit me on my head when I refused to accompany them. When I regained consciousness, I found I was in a hospital.'
Shakil said he had no money with him and decided to stay back and work as a labourer. He could return only after accumulating enough money to pay for his journey home.
The family members of Yakub and Jamid are now clamouring for justice. 'My brother was falsely implicated in the case despite the fact that he was innocent. Police and Shakil's family should be charged for falsely implicating my brother in a fake case,' said Jamid's brother.
