Jharkhand's first hanging on Sep 27 |
Ranchi, Sep 6: Ajay Kumar Pal, convicted of murdering four members of a family and their domestic help, will be hanged on September 27, the first execution to be carried out in Jharkhand since its creation seven years ago.
Pronouncing the order, CBI special judge Mohammad Numan Ali said Pal would be executed at 5 am on September 27.
The court had on April 9 awarded the death sentence on Pal for murdering the wife, two children, a nephew and the domestic help of forest conservator Dhirendra Kumar, who was his employer, on June 2, 2003 in Bariatu locality here.
On August 28, the Jharkhand High Court upheld the sentence after an appeal by Pal.
CBI counsel Shiv Kumar Kaka said Pal, who was working in the household, drugged the family members and bludgeoned them with rods before setting the house on fire.
He said Pal committed the crime after being hauled up several times for his work.
